The Little People dogs were first introduced in 1968 with the #915 Play Family Farm, and discontinued in 1991. During this time span, Fisher-Price made several different dogs:
- The first dogs have a metal rivet through their belly and no words, meaning they were made in the USA.
- The 2nd version has a metal rivet and the words "Made in Hong Kong", click here for an illustration.
- The 3rd version has a circular depression where the rivet used to be and the words "Made in Hong Kong", click here for an illustration.
- The last version has a smooth belly and the words "Made in Hong Kong", click here for an illustration.
At first glance, it appears as though there are only 3 variations of the dogs: a black dog, a brown dog, and a white dog. Thankfully, the four above mentioned variations (rivet or non-rivet) do not apply to the black nor the white dog because they were only made during the early 1970's...they always have a metal rivet and no words. The brown dog, however, has been around for a very long time and lived through several variations. In addition to the rivet or non-rivet variations mentioned above, the brown dog also has color variations, either light brown, dark brown, or shiny dark brown...click here for an illustration. Although we cannot pin down whether the light or dark brown dog came first, we do know that the shiny dark brown dog was the very last variation, and always had a smooth belly and the words "Made in Hong Kong".
Confused? Don't worry, we have all of the variations listed below in alphabetical order, first by body color, then by ear color. Be sure to note that the light brown dogs are listed before the dark brown dogs: If you have a variation that is not on this list, then please send and e-mail (and a picture if you can) to us at info@thisoldtoy.com. |
