The #916 Zoo base has no variations, but the attached hippo head was available in 3 different color options: Brown, Purple or Silver. The Zoo base with attached Purple hippo is the most commonly found.

Description: Cream-colored plastic base with 2 brown "caves" in the front middle. The right-side cave has a yellow attached lion that slides in and out of the cave. There is an uphill road on the front right side, and a series of molded "rock" steps on the front left. There is an orange perch beside the "rock" steps that the accessory seal fits onto. There is an orange lever on the front base that swivels the seal's perch. The zoo's upper level is green with an observation deck on the front, a tour trail on the back, and a hippo pond in the middle. The pond has a paper litho water design, and an attached BROWN hippo head that lifts up when a button on the tour trail is tripped. The accessory aviary building fits on the square space beside the hippo pond. Overall size: 17-1/2" wide x 15-3/8" deep x 5-7/8" tall.
