Bell rings and driver's head (wood on earlier ones) turns both ways as truck is pulled. Red windshield and ladder through '72, white thereafter. Early ones had a wood-headed-driver and narrow post in the back of the truck. Later ones had a plastic head driver and a wider post (which the early wood people will not fit over). Accessories: '68-'72 - fireman (white hat, red arms, freckles). '73-'79 - fireman (white hat and arms). '87 - ("Classic Edition") came with no fireman, but came with a book on Fire Engines. It is theorized that the early versions of this fireman may have come without a collar behind his neck - however, this is Unknown.

All years use captains chairs without triangles on back. One reader got this for Christmas in 1970, so maybe this was released midyear? Accessories: a pounding bench (7 3/4" wide, 5 3/8" high, 2 1/4" deep) with a slot cut in one side for sawing, and a white wooden "nail" sticking out of the top, a plastic saw with a red handle (saw has "FISHER-PRICE, a Fisher-Price logo and "Safety Saw" written on the blade), and a plastic hammer with blue handle and yellow head. Safety saw pushed back and forth across the bench makes a realistic sawing sound. When child uses the hammer to pound on the wooden nails, the nails make a "squeak" sound.
