The Little People horses were first introduced in 1968 with the #915 Farm, and discontinued in 1991. At first glance, it appears as though there were only 3 different horses: a black horse, a brown horse, and the JC Pennys exclusive white horse. During the 23 year time span that these horses were made, there were several different variations of them. Although these variations are small and numerous, they can helpful in determining the age of each horse:

  1. The oldest horses have a metal rivet through their belly and no wording.
  2. The 2nd version has a metal rivet and the words "Made in Hong Kong". Click here for a photo.
  3. The 3rd version has a circular depression where the rivet used to be and the words "Made in Hong Kong". Click here for a photo.
  4. The 4th version has a smooth belly, and the words "Made in Hong Kong", and no eyelashes. Click here for a photo of the belly, and click here for a photo of eyelashes vs. no eyelashes.

In addition to the above mentioned variations, there are a couple of others. The brown horse could be one of three different types of brown: there is light brown, dark brown and a shiny dark brown, click here for a photo. We belive the dark brown horse came first, and we know that the shiny brown horse was the last version made. Likewise, the older black horses are dull and the later versions were shiny black.
