The eyes roll up and down, driver's head turns side to side, and the bus makes a clicking sound when the bus rolls. The bus has a door (opens and closes) on the passenger's side, and has a "stop sign" (folds in and out) on the driver's side.

It has a wooden hinged door with a spring to close it, a wooden head driver who turns to look from side to side as the toy is pulled, and a red rectangular plastic stop sign by the door that can be turned in or out. The bus has a paper lithograph smiling face on the front with eyes that do NOT move, unlike the #983 and #990 buses. The bus has red wooden seats inside that the accessory Little People figures do not actually sit on - they stand on the floor in front of the seat (the last 2 people have no seats behind them). Makes a "putt-putt" sound and the driver's head turns when the bus is pulled.

The bus rolls on 4 black wheels.

The bus has a wooden driver's head that turns from side to side while the movable eyes on the front of the bus "looks" in the opposite direction of the bus driver. The bus makes a "putt-putt" noise as it rolls and has 2 permanently attached figures in the back seat that turn their heads to look around. There is an opening door on the side with a spring to close it, and a small red plastic rectangle-shaped stop sign that swivels out from the driver's window. The bus has red wooden seats inside, and it rolls on 4 black wooden wheels.
